Eyesight Disease Has Former Trucker Parked
Paul Desmond, a 42 year old former truck driver, had to leave his job because of his declining eyesight and is still waiting to be approved for Social Security disability. Desmond, after walking away from trucking, decided to try his hand in the restaurant business but he was too tired to work 10 hour shifts at a time. He was diagnosed with advanced diabetic retinopathy. Desmond is now legally blind but physicians are giving him laser treatments to save his remaining eyesight. Desmond is still waiting for his Social Security disability benefits to be approved. He has been out of work and has a 21 year old fiancée and a 2 year old son.
The fiancée is trying to look for work to help the money status but so far the search hasn't worked. Desmond has diabetes that caused the blood vessels in his retinas to enlarge and then begin to leak.
