Man Accused of Posing as Veteran Held
A Lynn man spent three weeks in jail after he was arrested on Christmas Eve for posing as a veteran, collecting donations, and then spending the money on television and other high end products. The man, Paul Guilmain, was arrested on Christmas Eve after police discovered he was posing as a veteran to collect donations. He wore camouflage pants and boots while standing outside of a Woburn supermarket claiming he was from the National Veterans Foundation. The Foundation claims he has no connection with them.
Guilmain suffers from a nerve disorder in one of his feet, collects Social Security disability checks on a monthly basis, and he and his wife have been struggling financially for quite some time now. He is signing over his next pay check to cover the court fees associated with his appearances. He spent the first three weeks of January in jail for his crime.
